Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Web sites, emails, and other communications, electronic or otherwise (the “Communications”) of the Thiel Foundation. This Privacy Policy was last updated on October 26, 2010.

At the Thiel Foundation, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy applies to all of the products, services, and Communications offered by the Thiel Foundation and/or our subsidiaries or affiliated companies.

To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our privacy practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used by us.

Personal Information

I. THE TYPE OF INFORMATION THE SITE COLLECTS

The Communications generally collect personally identifying information with your specific knowledge and consent. Our servers may also automatically collect information about your computer when you visit our Web sites, including without limitation the type of browser software you use, the operating system you are running, the website that referred you, and your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. Your IP address is usually associated with the place from which you enter the Internet, like your Internet Service Provider, your company or your university. The information we collect helps us, among other things, to monitor our internal operations, improve our services, identify the most popular areas of our sites and determine the effectiveness of our services and promotional activities.

II. HOW THE THIEL FOUNDATION MAY USE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY YOU

The Thiel Foundation uses personally identifying information you supply through our sites to provide you with the service you have requested. For example, if you subscribe to any of our newsletters that we have or may have in the future, we may use your e-mail address to send you a confirmation notice. Similarly, if you enter an online promotion, we will use this information to notify you concerning that promotion. We may also use the information to communicate with you about new features, products or services, and/or to improve the services that we offer by tailoring them to your needs.

The Thiel Foundation may share personally identifying information within our company and its affiliates. The Thiel Foundation will otherwise never share, sell, or rent individual personal information with anyone for their promotional use without your advance permission or unless ordered by a court of law. If you do not wish to receive future commercial communications from us by e-mail, simply follow the unsubscribe instructions contained within the e-mail.

In order to provide you a more customized experience or more relevant offers, we may merge your information with other publicly available information. There may also be instances where the Thiel Foundation communicates with you through channels other than email using information that you have provided either online or through other avenues.

We also allow access to our database by third parties that provide us with services, such as technical maintenance, but only for the purpose of and to the extent necessary to provide those services. We may also provide access to our database in order to cooperate with official investigations or legal proceedings, including, for example, in response to subpoenas, search warrants, court orders, or other legal processes.

In addition, we reserve the right to use the information we collect about your computer, which may at times be able to identify you, for any lawful business purpose, including without limitation to help diagnose problems with our servers, to gather broad demographic information, and to otherwise administer our sites.

While your personally identifying information is protected as outlined above, we reserve the right to use, transfer, sell, and share aggregated, anonymous data about our users as a group for any business purpose, such as analyzing usage trends and seeking compatible partners.

In addition, as our business changes, we may buy or sell various assets. In the event all or a portion of the assets owned or controlled by a Service Provider, its parent or any subsidiary or affiliated entity are sold, assigned, transferred, or acquired by another company, the information from and/or about our sites’ users may be among the transferred assets.

We do not knowingly collect or solicit any information from anyone under the age of 13, or knowingly allow such persons to register for any of our services. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for any of the Thiel Foundation services or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, and/or email address. In the event that we learn that we have received any such information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Quotes

I have always surrounded myself with mentors and success models, and realize that they have been a critical component in getting me to where I am today. Along these lines, I believe that we become better leaders by teaching what we know, and always try to put this practice to work with people who are willing and excited to be mentored. — Ryan Howard, Practice Fusion
