About the Under 20 Community
The Under 20 Community is made up of Thiel Fellowship applicants and young visionaries where we create spaces, both online and offline, for them to collaborate, learn from, and inspire each other.
The Thiel Foundation has found that there are many young promising candidates and the Under 20 Community is our way of fostering community and helping to move your visionary ideas forward with peer support, mentorship, and office hours.
Twice per year, we convene the Under 20 Community for a weekend-long event called an Under 20 Summit. During the summit, attendees have the opportunity to connect with one another, hear from other young visionaries, schedule office hours with Thiel Fellowship mentors, and collaborate on projects. The next Under 20 Summits will be held in June (in San Francisco) and November (in New York City) of 2013. If you are interested in participating in the summit community, please apply to the fellowship (all second round applicants get a free ticket to the summit) or email Nick Arnett, the Under 20 Community Liaison, to learn more about joining the group. To attend you must be 23 or younger and are working on a project to better the world.
Under 20 Meetups
To keep dialogue going between the summits and allow for other young visionaries to connect, some Under 20 Summit attendees host “Under 20 Meetups” in their cities. Under 20 Meetups are casual events that typically include a short speaker or program of some type, time for attendees to connect with mentors or advisors, and the opportunity for young visionaries to build community with other like-minded young people in their own city. Currently, Under 20 Meetups are taking place in the following cities:
- New York, New York
- San Francisco, California
- Boston, Massachusetts
